Apple Affair, West Dean Gardens, Chichester, Sunday 2nd October 2011
It was amazing how many different types of apples there were on show that we could taste! I liked having fresh apple juice and a fresh apple juice lolly. I also liked the apple crumble muffin! There was a tent with music in and lots of stalls to look round at. It was also quite cool seeing inside the house with all the chandeliers. I had a go at drawing an apple for The Big Draw competition too. Hope I win something!!

I liked having a go at the bow and arrow to shoot an apple.

Mini Maker Faire, Brighton Dome, Brighton, Saturday 3rd September 2011
The Maker Faire was very cool as there were loads of good gadgets to have a go of and you could talk to the people that had made them. There was a giant etch-a-sketch, a tap that played music when you put your hand under it and a robot that squirted water at you! You could draw or make a collage character then have it put into a computer game and do a mosaic picture. It was a really fun event.

West Dean Festival, West Dean Gardens, Chichester, Saturday 27th August 2011
This was a really good festival as there was lots of making stuff to do. First I went to the knitting tent where we were shown how to knit a flower or butterfly. You could choose what wool to use and also pick buttons to decorate it. I only knitted one petal but was allowed to take some wool and instructions away to finish later. I also went to the ‘Pint sized publishing’ workshop where a lady showed us how to fold an A4 sheet of paper in a clever way to make a little book. She had guidelines of story ideas for us to get ideas from and lots of pens and pencils to use. I enjoyed watching some girls playing violin and in another tent there was jive dancing. After that was a band with a man who sung really funny songs talking about what was going on in the crowd as he went along. The music was quite dancey so quite a lot of people got up to join in. After that was a children’s drum workshop which was good too. We saw some people do mountain boarding and climbed up the hill. The view from the top of the hill was cool .

I liked looking round West Dean Gardens and going over the little bridges that look liked Stegosaurus! I liked watching the lady wrap pink silk round one of the trees branches and watching how the lights shone on it. I liked making a kite and flying it. I liked decorating biscuits with special pens. I liked painting giant faces, bodies and legs in the nonsense area. I liked dancing to the music on stage.

Art in the Garden, Nymans, nr Haywards Heath , Friday 19th August 2011
I enjoyed going to Nymans Gardens and exploring all the different areas and seeing different types of trees and flowers. I liked looking round the ruins and seeing what the rooms were like in the house. When we were in the house a guide was telling stories about the people who’d lived there which was interesting. I liked doing the painting and thought they had a good choice of backgrounds of the place that you could colour in. It was nice to be able to paint out in the garden as the colours around outside were more inspirational.
Holly, Age 10
I had a good time at Nymans Gardens. I thought that the children’s map looked good but it wasn’t very easy to follow, the adult one was better. I quite liked the painting but my favourite thing was looking round the house and doing the quiz to spot things. I liked playing Croquet too.

Aquarena Site Mural Painting, Worthing Seafront, Monday 1st August 2011
I enjoyed helping start off the painting at the Aquarena mural. My brother and I did fish and seaweed. The artists had pinned up a plan of how they wanted things to look but we could decide how to actually do our bits which was good. I’m looking forward to going back to see the end result since lots of other children have added their bits.

Wadars Dragon Boat Race, Brooklands Park, Worthing, Sunday 31st July 2011

It was fun watching the boat races and singing along to the music whilst they were racing. There were lots of other things to do at Brooklands and there was a place where you could go in inflatable suits and knock each other over.

Worthing Open Houses, Worthing Seafront, Sunday 3rd July 2011
I enjoyed looking at the artists houses and having cake in one of the gardens.
I also got a sewgirl kit which is a tea towel with a cut out of a doll on it that you sew yourself then make clothes and hair for. I enjoyed seeing all the other things made by the artists with buttons and embroidery.

Worthing Children’s Parade, Worthing Seafront, Saturday 18th June 2011

Watching the parade was good fun because you could spot all the things go by and work out what they were. The theme was Space and all the schools had made different things. There were rockets and planets, Toy Story Aliens a big Ben 10, Star Wars robots and Doctor Who’s Tardis. It was quite a windy day but everyone was having lots of fun. The drumming was good too.

Jardin Flambeau, St Ann’s Well Gardens, Hove, Saturday 7th May 2011
WOW the whole park was lit up with fire it was truly spectacular!

It was a bit scary being near so many live flames but exciting too. My favourite bit was where they had little lanterns with flames hanging over a pond which looked like dancing fireflies. There were some clever sculptures with
moving bits like a metal man riding a bike that were very clever. The giant ball of fire was amazing. I also liked sitting on the bench swing seats they had set up to watch from. Although it was 9pm there were lots of children and it had a nice family atmosphere. Some of the music was a bit scary.

Brighton Children’s Parade, North Laine, Brighton, Saturday 7th May 2011

I enjoyed seeing all the schools going by in the children’s parade and seeing what different cool stuff they had made. I liked the giant bright flowers and sunglasses and there was a great big castle as well.

Wizard of Oz, The Pavilion Theatre, Worthing, 17th April 2011
I was surprised that the show was’nt the usual version of The Wizard of Oz. It was more like a panto with silly jokes, costumes and pop songs. They didn’t do the songs from the original version like Follow the Yellow Brick Road or Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Instead they did Ease On Down The Road and Don’t Stop Believing. I do like those songs so it was ok but it was a shame not to hear the others. Stephanie playing Dorothy was an excellent singer and good at acting her part and I thought Sarah Jane as The Good Witch was great too. I thought the scenery was well done. I would give it 4 and a 1/2 out of 5.
Holly, Age 10
I liked seeing the TV stars I recognised and I thought their acting was good but most of the jokes were for adults and older people because I could’nt understand why they were funny. I would give it 4 out of 5 because overall it was good.
Emily, Age 10
I thought it was a lively and fun show but at times it was hard to understand as the actors being the farm boys and other characters accents seemed to keep changing! I thought it was good when Bobby Davro came on dressed up as Harry Hill. I give it 3 and a 1/2 out of 5.

Flawless, The Pavilion Theatre, Worthing, Saturday 19th March 2011
I didn’t really know who Flawless were but I knew they had won a TV talent show. There were about 20 of them and they were all male hip hop/street dancers. The show was very bright and fast moving. I liked the music and knew some of it. I liked the costumes and the story telling. There was one bit about a homeless man and the dancers were showing him how to make something of himself and not steal. One really good bit was when they gave out white gloves to all the audience and a voice told what actions to do so everyone did it all at once and because of the ultra violet light all the hands were glowing. I thought there was a bit too much copying Michael Jackson moves but other than that a really good show.

Annie, The Pavilion Theatre, Worthing, 5th March 2011
Wow this was a really great show! I loved everything about it. Right from the start the songs and dance routines had us hooked. I already knew the film but seeing it on stage was really exciting and made us all want to join in with the fun. I thought all the cast, the children, the adults and the dogs were great! I thought the costumes and scenery were excellent too and the
performances. They all really did sound like they were from America in the 1930s. A brilliant production I’d recommend it to everyone. My favourite songs are ‘Tomorrow’ and ‘Maybe’ but my Mum’s was ‘You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile’!
Bethany, Age 12
Wind in the Willows, The Pavilion Theatre, Worthing, 20th February 2011
I liked Toady a lot, he was always making funny faces. The best bit was at the end and he came to all the seats and he put his arm round my mum.

Lily, Age 6
Frankie, Age 7I like otter best, especially when they used torches to light their faces. The songs were good but sometimes I couldn’t hear the words.
I liked all the animals. it was very funny. Toad was the funniest…he was really quite crazy after the break.
Isabella, Age 5
Holiday on Ice, The Brighton Centre, Brighton, 15th January 2011

I thought the best bits about Holiday on Ice were the sets and how they used them. There was a big space ship lit up with planets circling around it. There was a globe that looked like a mirror ball at the start, then the world. The show was called ‘Energia’ which was a fantasy land I think. It was a bit hard to tell who all the characters were supposed to be. There were some clowns on at the start who weren’t very funny and were quite annoying. It was good when they were skating around the edges of the spaceship though as it went up into the roof! I thought the bits with fire were good and the ones skating on stilts too. I liked it when they were banging a drum and water was flying off.
Holly, Age 10
I liked the big ‘disco ball’ because it kept showing different images depending on what the skaters were doing. I thought the costumes were great, especially the seahorses as they were glowed. The seahorses had good dance moves too. The music was good and atmospheric.
Bella, Age 10
I loved the animals like the Zebras…I wish there were more of them after the break. I liked watching the men at the top shining the big lights onto the ice rink.
